I graduated with a graphic design degree from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and worked as a graphic designer for 10 years. However, I found my true creative calling the day my friend taught me to crochet, and then to knit.
I had the privilege of working my dream job at my favorite local yarn shop for 5 years, teaching and helping match people to yarn and projects. I then moved on to another (now my current) dream job of designing knitwear. I design custom knitwear for anyone who wants a little something special, and continue to publish designs on Ravelry under Elizabeth Kay Booth. I also recently opened an Etsy shop, which I hope to continue expanding.
Aside from self-publishing, I have been commissioned to design knit and crochet patterns for the annual LA Yarn Crawl. My designs are sold and displayed at yarn stores. Zen Yarn Garden is currently representing one of my pieces at various appearances and trunk shows.
Most recently, I have been collaborating with Colinton Australia on knitwear designs which will now be featured on their website and at trunk shows and events such as Vogue Knitting Live.
Other tidbits about me – I love to read, my favorite topics being fashion, design and designers, art and biographies of favorite artists. I am based in Los Angeles and never take for granted that I live in an inspiring city surrounded by either the ocean or mountains. I take frequent breaks from knitting and crocheting to spend time with my husband, 2 children, 2 rescue cats, and a rescue dog.
